Seattle’s sexiest interarts gang and writer Marcus Gorman will take you on a wild ride across space and time to unearth the mysteries of the multiverse, all in the boundless Ballard Underground.
A whimsical, rip-roaring crusade through a kingdom of intrepid go-go dancers, mole people, sky pirates, and warring demigods, THE FANTASTIC MISADVENTURES OF TWISTY SHAKES is a hard-rocking, rump-shaking, road-tripping odyssey inspired by the fantasy movies of the ‘80s, the music of the ‘70s, and the aw-shucks morality of the ‘60s. Tootsie Spangles, Hattie HellKat, and Woody Shticks will resort to drastic measures alongside…
Libertinis darling JACKIE MIEDEMA!
Funk lover RAZZ ROCKET!
The hilarious ladies of Day Job, MOLLY TELLERS, CAITIE AULD, and KARA O’CONNOR!
Associate Director and evil genius KIKI PENOYER!

"Marketing materials tout The Fantastic Misadventures of Twisty Shakes, writer Marcus Gorman's collaboration with Seattle interdisciplinary theater group The Libertinis, as an homage to '80s fantasy films. In reality, it's more a live-theater equivalent of a Looney Tunes cartoon spoof, replete with distinctive characters (including at least one talking animal) and a combination of wry wit and knockabout slapstick that'd likely elicit approval from that wascally wabbit himself. I haven't laughed this hard at a theatrical event all year." -- Tony Kay, City Arts
"This play is set in a cartoonish fantasy world that through sheer artistic commitment and thronging the fullest depths of this cast and crew’s imaginations, the audience will have no problem at all buying into from the get go... The characters involved range from a flamboyant disco diva to a skitterish hedgehog; from a mermaid goddess to a proud, sooth-saying, Don Quixote-esque Scottish knight with an invisible steed. Watching Twisty Shakes is like watching the best of Saturday morning cartoons with a late-night twist." -- Geoff Finney, Copious Love Productions
"I appreciated how everyone committed so strongly to the idea of the invisible horse." -- Gregory Award nominator comment
